ALL MESSED UP

Hey, this is Rob. So much has happened this past week, it's like my life's been completely turned upside down.

Beta-7 was supposed to call me when he got back into town from San Francisco Sunday night. I never heard from him, but I didn't really think anything of it at first. I figured he probably got in late, was tired and just forgot to call. So I waited until late Monday morning and called him at home. There was no answer, so I left him a message saying to call me when he got up. He's usually pretty good about calling back, and he doesn't usually sleep very late. I waited until about 2:00 pm, and figured even with jetlag, he'd have to be up by now, so I called again but still no answer.

Then it occurred to me that maybe he ended up staying longer in SF and hadn't come back yet. So I emailed him and called the number he left me for where he could be reached in SF. There was no answer there either, so I left a message asking him to call me, and if he needed me to go feed Lucky or anything.

After a couple more hours, I was starting to get worried, so I posted a blog, figuring he'd definitely see the message then. Still hadn't heard from him Tuesday morning. After I got out of class, I checked my voicemail and called his place again, still nothing. So I drove over to his place.

I rang the bell and knocked, and I could hear Lucky crying inside, but nobody answered the door. I used my emergency spare key to get in, and saw that the apartment had been ransacked. Whoever had been there tore everything apart, looking for something. They took his CPU, a bunch of files in his desk, and his game consoles. All of his games and DVD's were tossed all over the floor. The beta discs, taped memos, and boxes of still shredded memos were all taken as well. Everything having to do with his fight against Sega was gone.

I was shocked when I first saw it, I felt like I was going to pass out. I was more frightened than I've ever been in my life right then, and all these horrible thoughts of what could have happened to my best friend came racing through my head.

I called his Mom and told her to come over to his place. I felt like she should hear it from me first instead of the police. I also wanted to apologize to her because I felt partly responsible, like I should have done more or acted sooner. I felt really guilty for helping him with this website, like this was what got him in over his head.

I've been cooperating fully with the police, I told them everything I know, showed them the site, what few files I had on my computer. The airline verified that Beta-7 was on the flight to San Francisco on Friday, but not the flight back on Sunday. Since there was no sign of forced entry, I think the police believe Beta-7 did all this himself, ran away, and is hiding out somewhere. I have a feeling this is what his mother thinks as well. I told them I've seen him black out with my own eyes, and it's for real, but I don't think they believe me, either.

I know some of you out there might think Beta-7 is crazy or something, and while he's definitely been affected by what all this business has done to him, I know him well enough to know that he's not crazy. He wouldn't do this to his own place, and he wouldn't just take off like that, without saying anything. He wouldn't do that to his family and his friends. And I absolutely know he would NEVER just take off like that and leave Lucky by himself for more than a weekend.

I just know Sega had something to do with this, even though I can't prove anything. I'm still trying to get more info out of the police, but it's like pulling teeth. I'll keep you posted when I hear anything else.

BETA-7, CALL ROB

Hey, this is Rob. Sorry if I'm stepping on your toes here, Beta-7, but I figured if I posted on the board you might not see it, or you might think it was one of these smart-ass kids posting.

Anyway, not sure if you could check email out there, so I left a couple messages at that 415 number, and haven't heard back from you. Do me a favor, call my cell as soon as you can and give me a shout. Thanks.

LEAVING FOR SAN FRANCISCO

I'm taking off for the airport in a few minutes here. I'll be meeting face to face with beta-13 for the first time since the beta test, and well be checking out what beta-x told me about. This is going to be HUGE. Kinda freaked about being in a plane for several hours but it's worth the risk.

I'll post a blog tonight and fill you in once i have all the details.

BETA-X BOMBSHELL

Beta-X sent me this video, the Sapp/Morgan tv ad, except with a disclaimer at the end about "violent or erratic behavior". He said, "Sega's not airing this. I wonder why?"

He then told me about something going down in San Fran, which would prove unequivocably that sega and vc were aware that this game was dangerous, knew exactly how dangerous, and that they have pursued an active policy of lies and disinformation about those dangers. The final nail in sega and vc's coffin. This is huge.

I need to fly out to SF to meet up with beta-13 and check it out. This doesn't change our ultimate plan (it helps it IMMENSELY, actually), but we will have to postpone part of it for a day or 2. Evidence of this magnitude is well worth it though.

BLACKOUT VIDEO: ATLANTA

This video was sent to me today by a building supervisor in Atlanta. It happened the first week of August.

Sadly, this kind of random violence could soon be more prevalent in our society if this first-person feature is released to the public. Just think about the effect that possible 0.5 percent could have. Yeah, maybe it sounds like a tiny figure at first. Maybe a couple thousand people in a country of 265 million will be afflicted with the "undesirable effect" of this game. But just think of the lives of those couple thousand people. All of them will have loved ones who are also affected. Parents, grandparents, wives, husbands, children, friends will all feel the devastation. The constant, paralyzing fear of never knowing when another blackout will rear its ugly head. Never getting a warning bell. Never knowing what will await them when they wake up -- debilitating injuries, the backseat of a police car, an angry mob, or god forbid something even worse? Take it from me, this is no way to live.

And think about the unwitting victims of those afflicted by these blackouts. Having someone come at you full force, someone completely unable to listen to reason, someone with strength and power beyond their normal, waking life capabilities. Think about all the loved ones of those victims. How their lives could be turned completely upside down in a matter of seconds.

That 0.5% may not sound like much, but its effects will ripple across our society, leaving destruction and suffering in its wake. This game is poison. Sega, I beg you to reconsider. It's not too late.
