Interesting. I don't know how Beta X would ever have gotten footage like this unless he works at Sega. But they're definitely using Sapp in their TV ads. I saw one this morning on ESPN. It had Sapp and that guy from Saturday night live in it. Funny as shit. I laughed out loud (and didn't even black out)
Posted by: CribTough at August 29, 2003 03:09 PM
He said he had never heard of anyone blacking out due to the game, if I remember correctly. Not that he had never heard of it.
If you have a case against VC, with actual proof. And VC knows that this game does cause blackouts. Then it'd be very unwise of them to say the opposite and you could also sue them easily for fraud.
So, go for it if you have a case.

hey this isnt proving anything....
heres a fucken idea for you....
MAYBE they were getting concerned that people kept asking if it would cause blackouts.
MAYBE the 2 head people of vc had an idea to have warren sapp adress that issue. they get asked if it causes blackouts, and now they are saying no, it doesnt cause blackouts.
MAYBE this is stupid and isnt proving anything.

thats what i mean about beta twisting words around and making wild conspiracys. when beta said the word "the" i think he meant I am a alien from the planet olfkulor and his mission is to be as gay as alienly possible. Beta get of Earth you fucking alien!!!!!!!
Posted by: at August 29, 2003 06:19 PM
You don't know when they made it. They could've made it after your friends did that interview. Or when they harrassed jeff thomas. Basically this proves nothing.
Posted by: at August 29, 2003 06:41 PM
This is more proof, to me, that this whole site is run by sega. It's amazing to me that on a daily basis you guys get new, impossible to get evidence. How in the flying fuck did beta-x get that? Oh wait, we can't ask him, he's "gone." How convenient.
Posted by: 2 + 2 = 5 at August 29, 2003 06:42 PM
Yeah, I've gotta agree with 2+2=5 here.
Posted by: Ephemerides Dragon at August 29, 2003 06:56 PM
I think that beta-x does work for sega in some capacity -- the first email i got from him was from a sega.com addy.
And what evidence is "impossible to get" -- those memos from vc's trash? Those interviews with greg and jeff thomas? Obviously they're not impossible to get.
Posted by: beta-7 at August 29, 2003 07:09 PM
I was gonna comment but 2 + 2 = 5 said it perfectly. I know you work for sega dill hole, cause you gave them my address to send me the beta, and that is how they knew where to send the letter to get it back.
From now on you are Dillhole-7!
Posted by: implayingeq at August 29, 2003 07:43 PM
I still think beta is from olfkulor, and he makes fake video's with lesbians that look like warren sapp. If you never word that word "the" beta-7 or should i call you oknar, you would have had us all fooled that you were human. Sorry oknar you are a dumbass go fuck olfkulor's king in the ass, you ass fucking whore.
Posted by: at August 29, 2003 07:52 PM
I disagree, 2 +2 = 5. I think this video definitely disproves that this site is run by EA, since they wouldn't have access to ESPN NFL cover boy, but if Beta-X works for Sega and IF they really shot this for the commercial (which, by the way, I've seen and it doesn't have any disclaimer), then it's possible it was sent by an insider.
But if they made this disclaimer, then why are they not running it in the ads?
Posted by: Truth Seeker at August 29, 2003 07:55 PM
Why are you so rude, "maxipegasus?" Yeah, I recognize your name and your comments from Gamer Chuck's board.
Does it bother you at all that you write that stuff and possibly little kids might read it?
Posted by: Funny Boy at August 29, 2003 07:59 PM
I think we're gonna see a beta-7 TV comercial soon.
And Truth Seeker - I never said it "defintely" proves anything.... I just said it's another news story that seems fake which makes me think this whole thing is fake.
It's not smoking gun by any stretch of the imagination.
Posted by: 2 + 2 = 5 at August 29, 2003 08:45 PM
Intresting indeed. I've only come here today, and already I find odd that all this information comes pouring into your lap Beta-7.
Videos left anr right, random (and lucky) letters "sitting" in the dumpsters for you just to pick up. Blackout videos sent in, informants who call themselves other Beta-testers, and yet, how does he get it, everyday?
If Sega and VC really did have anything hazardous in their games, wouldn't ya think they'd be a little more careful and not leave documents just left in the open?
And stop twisting words around, you sound like the little kid the corner who thinks everyone is making fun of him.
But in this case we are.

Some people are willing to help. Even if I don't know if 7 is lying or not, I will still help him. It is not like it hurts anything.
Posted by: Onlooker at August 29, 2003 11:07 PM
Since this game causes blackouts do you think everyone in the VC office tackles each other all day at work? Or do they have the "antidote"?
Posted by: good_ol_gil at August 29, 2003 11:22 PM
This makes me think maybe they don't have an "antidote:"
http://www.beta-7.com/segaswindle/030206_memo.html
Someone posted that Beta-7 was really a disgruntled VC employee who was fired, and that would explain the access to much of this stuff as well as a connection to someone inside.
Hmmmmm...
Posted by: Funny Boy at August 30, 2003 01:12 AM
It's a viral fucking marketing campaign.
TV comercials next week. Remember dat!!!!?!?!?!
Holla back, dog.

I say that we should ban together and boycott 2k4... because this marketing idea sucks...
Posted by: Bob S. Yunkle at August 30, 2003 04:01 AM
Fuck me sega's marketing budget is massive, eh?
still, you'll sell a lot of copies of the game, i suppose. good on you.
your pr dept are all fucking mad though. congratulations, good job.

How can someone who gives themself the name of a radiohead song be so good at stating the obvious?
Slow down, 2 + 2 = 5, and join the party. It's fun in here!
Posted by: Funny Boy at August 30, 2003 11:18 AM
The name is from 1984, dawg.
Hollllllla!
(I do like radiohead also)

Damn... now i'm going to have to buy it... or wait, now I can't...
damn...
Either way, I hate football games, so it's no big deal for me not to buy it...
Posted by: Bob S. Yunkle at August 30, 2003 09:23 PM
i dont think this guy works for sega...its not that hard to type up a bunch of bullshit and make fake videos. he just got lucky somehow and found this sapp video. its pathetic how long this joke has gone on....beta, you killed it a while ago.
Posted by: tdawg at August 31, 2003 01:45 AM
This is quite a conflict. on one hand, if Beta-7 works for sega (of which I am fairly certain) I would very much like to ban the game for such a half-assed marketing capaign. But on the other hand, if this really is some psycho has a problem with sega and a lot of resources on his hands (unlikely) then I would very much like to buy the game , just to spite him....
Oh wait. I don't want the game, anyway.
The very few people who will buy the game because of this site isn't worth the cost of it.
Posted by: daemonkey at August 31, 2003 09:18 PM
Wake up people. There is no Beta 7. At least it's not some high school kid as you think of him. Beta 7 is a team of a marketing company hired by Sega. This site is run by professionals. It intentionally looks like shit.
Sega is using different methods in going after different markets in their LAST attempt to beat EA Sports. The casual gamer is going to be captured by TV commercials and the media hype.
The "hardcore" gamers, i.e. nerds who read shitty ass websites are the people Sega made this page for. This is the biggest scam since Blair Witch. Congratulations, Sega.
But please remember that Madden has already probably sold 1 or 2 million copies. If you think your game can beat that almost a month later, good luck.
Posted by: Knocks at August 31, 2003 11:17 PM
If Madden already sold 1 million copies then the pope is jewish.

This all sounds a little wierd, if it went how you said it does then that is wierd, but I don't see how the game can cause more than one blackout. Also theres no way it hurts .5% of people because the game has went gold and yet nobody else has come up with something like this. Sorry dog, but it's pretty hard to believe all of this.
