MEMO: BLACKOUTS ARE "ACCEPTABLE" TO SEGA

This memo makes me sick. Apparently Sega thinks that if a half a percent of the people who play this game are effected like i was, that's okay with them. Think about that. Say they sell a million copies of this game. That means 5,000 peoples' lives are going to be ruined as a result. 5,000 people with families and friends who are all going to be affected by this. And for what? For money. This company has been going downhill since the dreamcast, and they're desperate to start making money again, so desperate they don't mind ruining a few thousand lives in the process.

And did you plan on even warning consumers about this "undesirable effect," sega? Or were you just hoping that the standard "epileptic seizures" warning would cover your ass enough that you could avoid mentioning it?

Sega and Visual Concepts, your cavalier attitude toward the lives and welfare of the people who pay your salaries is despicable.

Beta-7, you might wanna take math again. if they sell one million copies, that's 500,000, not 5,000, lives that would be affected if this game causes blackouts.

And I need to take reading lessons again.

I thought that just said half, but it said half of a percent.

My bad 7.

Posted by: Believer at August 20, 2003 02:48 PM

These guys are going to get so nailed when this game comes out. I can't believe they're goig to release it knowing this shit. They must have a whole team of lawyers ready for the shit this is going to cause.

Posted by: dickdog at August 20, 2003 03:25 PM

Beta-7, these documents will really help your case, especially because you got them from the trash!! That means they are admissable in court, not like the other ones that are stolen!

Posted by: Titsiana Booberini at August 20, 2003 03:40 PM

bhaahahaha i cant believe people actually believe this shit! you bunch of tools

oh btw thanks to you beta im getting ESPN. i was on the fence on which one to get Fever or ESPN. Thanks again.

Posted by: at August 20, 2003 04:01 PM

Just a little odd how Beta-7 is "finding out" more and more as the release date for ESPN NFL Football. And why would Sega/VC print everyone of their e-mails to each other?

Posted by: at August 20, 2003 04:28 PM

Beta, what u doing in San Francisco when you live in Orlando?

Posted by: F at August 20, 2003 04:29 PM

y r da papers always wrinkled

Posted by: at August 20, 2003 04:35 PM

Why don't you people read the blogs and watch the videos? I mean, the answers to your questions are not only on this blog, but in entries on the front page no less.

This memo is particularly dispicable of Sega and should seal your court case. I'll bet your lawyer is happy now.

"y r da papers always wrinkled"

Maybe it's because they WERE IN THE TRASH, MORON!

Posted by: chalk at August 20, 2003 05:08 PM

y would sega print out every single e-mail they send to each other??

Posted by: at August 20, 2003 06:21 PM

"y would sega print out every single e-mail they send to each other??"

Why do you assume those are emails? If you ever worked for a large corporation you would know that they often print memos like this and distribute them via interoffice mail, especially if they don't want to leave any traces of it on the internet.

Of course I guess they didn't think about that when they threw it in those bins, which, BTW look like recycle bins to whoever asked about that. Those stupid idiots.

Hey beta good to see that there's a lot more believers and a lot less gamer chucks around here. BTW, I bought Madden 2004 today. :-)

Posted by: at August 21, 2003 12:04 AM

your faggot vids dont work, and this has got to be the gayest propaganda/hipe i have ever seen, though you will snag alot of suckers... and i just wanted to say that SPORTS GAMES SUCKS.. thank you.. and i hate espn..

Posted by: aaron at August 21, 2003 12:37 AM

aaron before you go off at the keyboard why don't you upgrade your quicktime then try again.

Geesh, sometimes I really fear for the future of the world when these kids can't even figure out how to make internet video work.

Well if you look at the memo it clearly shows ".5%".

So if they sell 500,000 copies that 0.5% will affect 2,500 gamers (I know I do maths).

That is still a high figure though.

Posted by: cOzMaTiC at August 21, 2003 05:31 AM

Yeah, i know what it says, coz, and 2500 out of 500,000 is the same ratio as 5000 out of 1,000,000 -- 0.5%. But even if they only sold TWO HUNDRED copies and ONE person was affected this way, it's still too high of a number.

hey beta, still havent responded to these posts:
1)y would sega print out every single e-mail they send to each other??
2)Beta, what u doing in San Francisco when you live in Orlando?
3)Just a little odd how Beta-7 is "finding out" more and more as the release date for ESPN NFL Football.

Posted by: at August 21, 2003 10:49 AM

Where does it say beta-7 was in Cali.?

Posted by: at August 21, 2003 10:54 AM

I can't wait to get ESPN!!!! Thanks beta-7.

Posted by: at August 21, 2003 12:17 PM

Actually "anonymous", i didn't think your posts really warranted a response, but here ya go:

1) As titsiana said, "Why do you assume those are emails?"

2) I never said i was in San francisco -- pay attention.

3) Okay, so you think it's odd. What do you want me to say? I'm supposed to respond to every opinion of how people feel or something?

Posted by: beta-7 at August 21, 2003 12:22 PM

but beta, aren't vc's hqs (where u rummaged through the trash) in san francisco?

and its obvious they are e-mails because of the header (escepially with the "RE:"). what else would they be? faxes, telegrams? wouldnt be a normal letter or it probably wouldnt have the header

Posted by: at August 21, 2003 01:37 PM

Anonymous, you have no idea how internal memo systems work. Email headers are based off of memo headers, not the other way around. *smacks anonymous with a clue-by-four* They *could be* emails but it is most likely that they are *not*.

RE: is *THE* standard "in response to" indicator, and has been around since the age of typewriters... and I think even before then. Spend some time in a corporate environment, son; *then* come back and lecture us on the differences between emails and memos. Thanks.

Oh, by the way... I'm neither in support nor in favor of beta-7's actions and legal efforts. I'm reserving judgment... though I am extremely skeptical.

still no answer about san fran having vc's hq, where beta-7 was...

Posted by: at August 21, 2003 10:56 PM

Dude, why don't you try actually reading the words on this site before asking the same non-question 3 times? Look in the blog entitled "VIDEO: BETA-13 GETS MORE DIRT ON VC" (pay attention, there's a clue in the title even)...now read the first line in the blog..."Beta-13 shot this footage of him and a buddy a few nights ago, going through the trash at Visual Concepts headquarters."

Posted by: beta-7 at August 22, 2003 12:08 AM

didnt notice that, sorry beta-7, feel like a complete idiot, my sincerest apologizes.

Posted by: at August 22, 2003 02:02 PM

You are out of your mind you just want money like those other people that go to court this is sad if anybody believes this garbage they should go to hell

Completely absurd

Posted by: Raiden at August 27, 2003 06:02 PM

Heh heh heh...

Honestly this is so sad Beta-7. No offense meant to you but I cannot believe anything you are putting up on this site. Those videos...people do hit people, not because a football video game commands them to. I've played all sorts of games out there, and I've never blacked out and started rolling in a ball (Sonic), using Grafitti on city walls (JGR), and I've never tackeled someone in public for no reason at all.

This is the kind of crap that clogs up the Internet, making the Net worse and worse, my opinion, if you don't got anything good, meanigful,, and worthwile to say on the Net, shut the hell up eh?

And to all of your believers...what in god's name are you thinking, a video game company is not planning the downfall of your lives, if you dont like to play Sega Games, then dont play the damn Sega Games. Geez, I wonder about the world when everyone believes someone just because of his evident "proof".

What happens when your claims against Sega and VC are proven wrong eh? Gonna rip on Capcom? Or maybe Nintendo? How about you go club some baby seals eh?

- ShadowMan (who is now playing Sega/Nintendo/Sony/Square/EA/Capcom games Sucka!)

Posted by: ShadowMan at August 29, 2003 12:46 PM

yes...finally the truth comes out...videogames are subversive conduits of underhanded mind control schemes....no one believed me at first when, in 1983, I spontaneously began blacking out, making monkey noises, and throwing barrels at people whenever I saw a plumber with a handlebar moustache...fortunately, very few plumbers have handle bar moustaches........If I sit too close to the screen while playing DOA Extreme Beach Volleyball, will I black out & get to diddle the DOA babes?
