MEMO: "LIABILITY ISSUES"

Janine pieced together this memo, dated the day before the one she found a couple weeks ago. It's to the SOA legal department, cc'd to Greg Thomas, the head of visual concepts.

Why would there be "liability issues" involved in beta testing? Doesn't a beta test just involve people sitting around playing video games? What could be dangerous about that, huh VC?

Just go ahead and keep hiding behind your wall of bullshit, Sega/VC. The truth keeps coming out, and you will soon be buried by it!

Posted by: at August 4, 2003 12:38 PM

LOL @ this. Atleast put effort into fooling us.

Posted by: forget about it rick at August 4, 2003 12:40 PM

I didn't post a blog yesterday.

Posted by: beta-7 at August 4, 2003 12:42 PM

There definitely wasn't an 8/3 post.

Posted by: at August 4, 2003 12:53 PM

Hey fakeyguy, I hope u are taking care to wipe the screen each time u rub one out.

Posted by: flakeyguy A.K.A. flakeguy at August 4, 2003 02:00 PM

3208c E Colonial Dr is a business address. Office space, w/o the actual unit number. This is obviously fake.

Posted by: Frog at August 4, 2003 04:02 PM

It's the address of where my po box is at. They did leave the box number off, but it was still delivered to me.

Posted by: beta-7 at August 4, 2003 04:37 PM

uhhhhh, yes, that was funny, didnt make sense though?

anyway, beta-7, you know u might get sued and everything rite IF THESE papers are real.

do u really hate sega that much, that u wanna get in legal trouble over it?

Posted by: fakeyguy A.K.A. fakeguy at August 4, 2003 05:05 PM

Why the hell is this stuff "confidental"?? This isn't form the pentagon.

Posted by: at August 4, 2003 05:15 PM

Why don't you ask sega that question?

And yes fakeyguy, i'm aware of the risks. Let them try to sue me -- it'll just bring more attention to my cause.

Posted by: beta-7 at August 4, 2003 05:20 PM

guys... i haven't commented on anything yet since reading the whole blog. But, I must say i've read most comments on the more "argued" posts in the blog. Every time someone brings up a discrepency(sp?), somebody else and/or b7 gives a perfectly valid reason for it or simply, proving they are morons who don't read the blog or just... morons. Anyways, some people are obviously doubting themselves when posting "this is freakin bullshit and everyone knows it". Nice argument there dude...made us see the light.

Posted by: Wolf at August 4, 2003 05:21 PM

they had liability because of you slip and fall or some crap like that you won't sue them. Remember this is america you can sue people beause you eat to much.

Posted by: Fake guy at August 4, 2003 05:28 PM

Beta-7, take SEGA to court. You obviously have enough evidence to win the court case. You have beta-12 and such who too can back you up. You have videos, documents, valid signitures and More. If you want SEGA to recognize what they did--and yes take full responsibility for it, you need to sue SEGA.

Posted by: Leo at August 4, 2003 05:54 PM

Wolf, there are plenty of arguments other than "this is all crap" that people have brought up time and time again. The webspace, for instance, costs hundreds of dollars per month. The whole website is complete slander and if it wasn't fake it would have been taken down within moments of going up. Companies don't take lightly to this type of crap. Then someone publically handing out beta copies. Come on now. I've followed the pirating community for years now and if anyone ever made a site like this they would be taken down and had charges pressed against them instantly. The videogame industry has watchdog groups that preside over stuff exactly like this... why hasn't this site gotton their attention? The reason is that this is a virus marketing campaign and it's insulting to me, a reasonably educated person, that they would possibly think it would work on me. This is Sega assuming that their audiences are a bunch of dolts that don't know their ass from their elbow. For them to think they could take the site down for a few days and that would legitimize this whole thing (and why exactly is it ok for it to be back up?) is completely insulting. And for those of you stupid enough to buy into this whole marketing campaign i truely feel sorry for you. The media has much too easy of a time with your brain.

Posted by: forget about it rick at August 4, 2003 06:47 PM

It's not slander if its true, and sega knows this. they've got something to hide, no wonder they don't want to get the police involved because then they would have to come clean about everything theyve done. And a site like this probably would cost a lot of money, if Rob didn't have such good connections.

PS: i'm looking into my legal options, leo.

'The reason is that this is a virus marketing campaign and it's insulting to me, a reasonably educated person, that they would possibly think it would work on me.'

If it was indeed viral marketing (not 'virus', but what do you expect with only a reasonable education) it would be too late because it has already worked on you. Idiot.

Do you honestly think Sega is doing all this for the few people that post here? Handing out beta disks, allowing profanity (kid freindly company)??? Either all this is true or beta-7 is a real nutcase. Never seen any evidence to prove otherwise.

forgetaboutit - Ummm, why would Sega advertise by making themselves sound like money-hungry bitches? Beta is bruised and battered and emotionally damaged it seems - that doesn't seem like positive advertising; and for the record, I will not be purchasing or considering purchasing ESPN NFL 2004 or whatever the hell its called. Peace.

"The whole website is complete slander and if it wasn't fake it would have been taken down within moments of going up. Companies don't take lightly to this type of crap."

HA! There are dozens of Anti-Sega websites on the net. If you think Sega has the power or will to take them down than think again. My site for example has been running for 5+ years and has only gone down once(and Sega wasn't involved).

"why would Sega advertise by making themselves sound like money-hungry bitches?"

I know its doesn't sound like a good idea but don't let yourself think thats evidence. Sega has done plenty of things that weren't exactly good ideas. You may not have heard but a few years back(before the release of Dreamcast) Sega ran a series of TV ads in japan where japanese children were telling Sega execs "Sega Sucks. We prefer Playstation." and that was the whole ad. Sega claims they did it to show people that they know they have made mistakes and they have heard the complaints. It was still a stupid idea.

Reguardless of if the site seems a bit far fetched the reality is that nobody has yet presented any hard evidence that its fake and until they do all of you out there crying "aw this site is so fake!post more vids!" are just making yourselves look like Sega freaks.

Welcome thrilljunkie, and right on! One less person buying this game.

Get your ass home right now. We need a talk young man.

Posted by: Beta-7's Mom at August 5, 2003 10:46 AM

lol @ virus. I am an idiot.

Butim still not stupid enough to buy into this marketing campaign. I mean, for chrissakes, look at the information that's being presented to you. Look at the "bad" things he has to say about the game. Paraphrased: The game is so intense and realistic that it causes blackouts.

COME ON NOW. Can't you guys fucking see this? It's marketing. Man, I gotta play this game because this kid is so fucked up by it. Man, 2k4 sounds fucking crazy that whacky kid wakes up with bruises. IT'S FUCKING MARKETING. No man, it's for real, he hands out beta discs (to fanboys who go to forums all accross the net to gush about how awesome the game is). He bad mouths sega (and that's so fucking hardcore even though sega of japan always makes self mocking comercials in Japan). He swears. HOLY FUCKING SHIT IT MUST BE FOR REAL. HE SAYS SHIT AND FUCK. But those shredded memos are so fucking convincing. And those videos are so real. Who would stage that? It's not like jackass is fucking cool or anything.

First person mode: so intense it will give you black outs. Fo real, dawg.

Posted by: forget about it rick at August 5, 2003 02:13 PM

Rick you are an asshole. Dawg. GROW UP! If this is such bullshit why do you post a long ass message and keep coming back? Or why will you answer this post I am putting up now. Because you are a queer-wanna be black-home body-fag.

Posted by: TimmyP at August 5, 2003 02:34 PM

You are a target market.

Posted by: forget about it rick at August 5, 2003 03:00 PM

I don't know what to make of all this, but I know one thing -- forget about it rick is completely, 100% hooked on this site so if it is a marketing campaign, the rick has been fished in.

Posted by: Target Market at August 5, 2003 04:01 PM

Y'all is some monk-ass beitchez. Rick has shown me the light. Not only will I buy NFL2k4, but I will play it at least 4 hours a day before my nightly driveby. Holla.

Posted by: Big Money Balla at August 5, 2003 04:21 PM

Target market has hit the nail on the head. This site is my crack. I can't get away from it.

Ive had a preorder on the game for about 6 months though so it really wasn't worth all this trouble to get me though.

Posted by: forget about it rick at August 5, 2003 04:24 PM

I'm sure it's only a month before Beta-7 will tell us we all have to buy the game now to some how help him fight against sega. This site makes for some funny reading when I'm bored. And Rick there's no use trying to tell folk that this site is fake...if you haven't noticed, the general public is just flat out stupid enough to believe shit like this.

Posted by: Rick's Daddy at August 5, 2003 07:00 PM

Oh, I almost forgot...I too have had the game pre-order since the beginning of summer.
